anikawa Jin's artwork.

The teapot is made of white clay. The pattern on the surface is achieved with "Mogake technique" developed back in the 19th century. The teapot is wrapped with Amamo seaweed, which reacts with the clay and oxidizes during firing. The result is this unique pattern, bearing the impression of randomness, which has both aesthetic and philosophical appeal to the Japanese.

Jin Hakudei Mogake shiboridashi has exceptionally tall walls. Thanks to that, the clay does not get overheated around the rim, even if hot water is used for brewing tea, so the pot is not only suitable for premium Japanese green teas, but it is ideal for Chinese and Taiwanese teas as well. It is a slow pouring teapot, ideal for Gyokuro.
