TEEMAA 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TASTING SERIES 7 - GONGFUCHA AND OOLONG TEA

Time has flown by and TeeMaa is 10 years old this year. And we believe the best way to celebrate is to share some tea moments together with all of you! During August, we'll arrange tea tastings and workshops on different themes every week. Warm welcome to join!

UPCOMING: Gongfucha and oolong tea

Let’s explore together the traditional oolong teas and the historical way of brewing them!

This arguably most complex category of teas traces its history to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) of China. With time, the big pot brewing of the Ming gave way to the smaller pots, and Gongfucha was born as the way to brew oolong tea. Eventually, gongfucha would be applied to other types of tea as well and it is sometimes referred to as the Chinese tea ceremony, though really it is a brewing method which can be quite casual. We will drink traditional, moderately roasted oolong teas and discuss the origins of Gongfucha and how it is practiced today. We will drink teas from the selection of Teemaa and the private collection of the host.
