Description: Tea leaves were handpicked from first flush in spring. The tea was made with local traditional methods that has been passed from generation to generation. It's smoked by burning maple seeds. The liquor is of yellow color.

Story of Grandpa Special: This interesting name comes from the fact that the first patch of TeeMaa’s smoked yellow tea was made by Peng (TeeMaa’s owner)’s grandfather. This unique yellow tea is hard to find anywhere else in the world, because it’s the small village’s local specialty, where Peng has grown up.

Every spring, villagers are busy picking the freshest tea leaves from the forest and roast them into delicious tea. They made the tea only for themselves and their family. Sadly, young people don’t appreciate picking and making them by themselves anymore because it’s such hard-work. But surprisingly, this tea is very popular in Finland, maybe due to its mysterious connection with smoky sauna.

From last year, Peng’s mom started recruiting grannies and grandpas (there are 11 in total) from the village to make tea for TeeMaa’s customers. They are really excited that some ‘far-away’ land foreigners like their tea and are willing to pay for it! One granny who made us excellent yellow tea told Peng, that she feels so useful and valued again! This year they are very happy that they successfully convinced a young lady (born in 1983, Peng’s cousin) joined the tea making team:).
